SYNOPSIS

The story starts with a landslide in a quarry, killing the Bishop of Évora, which consequently triggers the succession process in the Church, kicking off the narrative. We have a priest (Santiago) with a forward-thinking discourse and one of the favorites to succeed the Bishop. His life will take a 180-degree turn when he falls in love with the young woman whose marriage he’s about to celebrate (Maria Manuel), a young woman who will face several major dilemmas in this series; a churchgoer (Rosa), the fiancée’s mother, whose marriage is falling apart and seeks solace with Father Santiago; a fiancé (Filipe), who is dying to get married yet is keeping a serious secret from his girlfriend that could compromise their relationship; the owner of the quarry (Horácio), the fiancée’s father, whose illegal business is unveiled by the landslide, which places his family’s safety at risk. We also have an Archbishop (D. Augusto) who is as much a human being as the others and keeps secret, which if revealed, could stun the church.
